When Is It a Real Emergency? A Simple Guide for Families

Dr. Naveed Ahsan Mughal 2 June 2026 5 min read

Knowing the warning signs that need immediate care can save a life. Here's what should never wait until morning.

Some symptoms need care right away. Chest pain or pressure, sudden weakness on one side of the body, difficulty breathing, or uncontrolled bleeding are all reasons to come to the emergency department immediately.

For children, watch for fast or laboured breathing, persistent vomiting, a high fever with a rash, or unusual drowsiness. Trust your instinct — if your child looks very unwell, don't wait.

Severe abdominal pain, a serious injury or a suspected fracture, and any loss of consciousness also need urgent assessment.

Our emergency department and ambulance operate 24 hours a day. If you're unsure, call 055-4295777 — our team will guide you on whether to come in.
